Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary to the chief adviser, has been promoted to the rank of senior secretary.
This was announced in a notification signed by Abu Shaleh Mohammad Mahfuzul Alam, deputy secretary of the Contract and Foreign Employment Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration, on Tuesday.
The notification said that Shafiqul Alam has been granted the rank of senior secretary during his tenure as the press secretary to the chief adviser, in the public interest.
Earlier, on August 13 of last year, Shafiqul Alam, the head of AFP's Bangladesh Bureau, was appointed as the press secretary to the chief adviser, Dr Muhammad Yunus.
The notification at that time mentioned his rank as secretary.
It was said that Shafiqul Alam was appointed as the press secretary to the chief adviser with the rank of secretary, and a salary of Tk78,000 (fixed) along with other benefits, on a contractual basis, effective from his joining date, subject to the chief adviser's tenure or his satisfaction (whichever occurs first).
The other terms of this appointment would be determined by an approved contract.
