Hefazat-e-Islam leaders are being released from jail in accordance with the list they have givenHome Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said.
“Recommendations have been made for the release of Hefazat-e-Islam's imprisoned leaders and activists. According to the list that they have given, the activists are being released gradually,” he said after visiting a madrasa in Chittagong on Thursday.
He said: "After the rise of militancy, everyone said that militants come from Qawmi madrasas. The government did not close any madrassa, nor it will in the future. This government is working to make madrasa education up-to-date.”
Hefazat-e-Islam released a statement on Tuesday calling for the release of the arrested leaders and activists.
The statement said that if the authorities do not comply with the demand, a movement will be created after Eid.
