The four female students who allegedly went missing from Mirpur-13 ran away from home to go on a tour, police said on Friday.
They planned not to tell their families as they did not give them permission, Kafrul police station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Kamrul Islam said.
The four girls returned their respective homes at 11pm on Thursday.
The girls, identified as Kulsum, Kolpona, Samia, and Khushi, are aged between 12 to 14, with three of them being madrasa students and one a school student.
Police sources revealed that the girls had sought permission from their families to go on a trip together but were denied.
Despite that, they went ahead with their plan and left home on March 28, with three of them pretending to go to school and one to the madrasa.
They traveled to Sylhet and then Khulna, where they rented a hotel room. However, they soon realized that they did not have enough money and decided to return home.
Kamrul Islam said: "Everyone was weak as they could not eat and drink properly for two days. The girls were handed over to their parents at night."
