Uttara South and Shewrapara stations of the metro rail are ready to open for commuters from Friday.
Sources at Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the operator of metro rail-services, gave the information on Wednesday.
After the opening, commuters will be able to enjoy the metro rail ride using all nine stations from Uttara to Agargaon.
A DMTCL official said: “We have formed two teams which will coordinate with the operation teams of Uttara South and Shewrapara stations for the operation.”
On December 28, 2022, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the first elevated metro rail, setting a milestone in the country's communication history.
She unveiled the plaque for the 11.73km section of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 of the metro rail project from Diabari to Agargaon in the capital.
At present, metro rail is operating passenger services from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
