Muslims in Bangladesh will begin fasting from Friday as the moon of holy month Ramadan was not sighted on Wednesday evening.
This information was revealed after the meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation's conference room Baitul Mukarram.
Dhaka TribuneState Minister of Ministry of Religious Affairs Faridul Haque Khan said the month of Sha'ban will complete 30 days on Thursday. The counting of the holy month of Hijri will start from Friday and the holy Shab-e-Qadr or Lailatul Qadr will be celebrated on the night of April 18.
Besides, the crescent moon, which signifies the start of the holy month of Ramadan, was not visible in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday night, as a result of which Sha'ban will end on Wednesday and Ramadan will start on Thursday there.
