Update : 21 Feb 2023, 11:52 PM

The 61-member rescue team sent to help the earthquake victims in Turkey returned to Bangladesh on Tuesday.

Initially, the Bangladeshi rescue team was scheduled to return to Bangladesh on February 15, but the Turkish government requested the Bangladesh government to extend the rescue operation, reads a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

As a result, the rescue team stayed for five more days in Turkey, under the direction of the government of Bangladesh.

The rescue team, consisting of Bangladesh Army and Fire Service and Civil Defence members, conducted rescue operations in the cities of Adiyaman and Hatay in Turkey.

They have saved a significant amount of people and pulled out bodies from the rubble.

At the same time, the medical team of the armed forces provided assistance as well as medicines to around 250 people.

Meanwhile, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake has rocked Turkey's southern province of Hatay and northern Syria, killing six people and sparking fresh panic after a massive February 6 tremor left over 47,000 dead in both countries.
