The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad has expressed grave concern over reported verbal directions from the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) to the Telegu Community to vacate their homes in the Dhalpur area of Jatrabari.
The DSCC issued the directive to leaders of the Telegu community in the area on Thursday, according to members of the platform.
On a visit to the Outfall Telegu Colony in Dhalpur, Oikya Parishad presidium member Kajol Debnath said any steps to evict the members of the Telegu community without measures for their rehabilitation are undemocratic.
He urged the DSCC mayor to withdraw the unlawful order.
Around 1,200 members of the colony are from the Telegu community. They organised a human chain in the area on Thursday, after Jatrabari police reportedly directed them to vacate their homes.
