Humayun Ahmed’s timeless presence at Ekushey Book Fair

His writings have been translated into many other languages and are still well-liked by people all around the globe

Even years after his departure, the late Bangali novelist Humayun Ahmed still holds readers' attention. 

Fans of the well-known author could be seen swarming to the stands selling his books at the Ekushey Book Fair, keen to get their hands on his writings.

Humayun Ahmed, who passed away in 2012, was renowned for his distinct narrative approach and his capacity to enthrall readers.

He published more than 200 works during the course of his writing career. Magical realism was a common topic in his writing, which gave him the freedom to tackle difficult and esoteric subjects in a fresh and creative way. 

He included magical aspects in his books to make political and social commentary as well as underlying realities about the human experience.

At this year's book fair, fans were seen browsing through stacks of Humayun Ahmed's books, chatting with stall owners about their favorite works, and eagerly picking up books.

It was clear that the author's legacy lives on, and that his influence on Bangali literature will be felt for years to come.

"Humayun Ahmed holds a special place in the hearts of readers and in the history of Anyaprokash. His works have become synonymous with our publishing house and continue to be in high demand even today. This is a testament to his lasting impact as a writer and his enduring legacy that continues to inspire new generations of readers." said Sumaiya Islam Tithi from Anyaprokash.

Md Rejaul from Kakoli Prokashoni said: "Humayun Ahmed is still our top seller, even more so than writers like Zafar Iqbal and Rokib Hasan. His legacy continues to captivate readers and his works remain in high demand." 

His work continues to inspire new generations of writers and readers, and his influence on the literary landscape of Bangladesh will be felt for generations to come.

"Humayun Ahmed's writing was a big part of my childhood and now I am passing that legacy on to my younger siblings. I want to share his impactful stories and inspire a love for Bangla literature in them," said a reader named Shuvo Jyoti.

Humayun Ahmed passed away, but his legacy has only gotten stronger. 

His writings have been translated into many other languages and are still well-liked by people all around the globe. Humayun Ahmed's writing has been praised for rekindling interest in Bangladesh's literary past and bringing Bangali literature to a new generation of admirers.
