RAB Director General M Khurshid Hossain said that the elite force has made all-out preparations to deal with any situation and to maintain law and order situation as well as ensure overall security at the Awami League's national conference.
He told this to journalists after inspecting the security system of the conference venue at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Friday.
When asked whether there is a security threat, he said: “We are not talking about the threat. We feel that we should prepare for any national event or such conference or meeting with security in mind.”
Police special branch (SB) members will be in charge of security at the gate. They will look after the security of the visitors along with the invitations. There will be metal detectors at the gate as well, he added.
He said that there will be RAB's striking force and patrol team at various points. Sweeping will be done by dog squad. Bomb disposal team, plainclothes personnel will be deployed and RAB's commando team will be ready.
The 22nd national council of the ruling Awami League (AL) will be held on Saturday with a pledge to build a Smart Bangladesh by 2041.
