Dhaka TribuneAwami League's Central Organizing Secretary BM Mozammel Haque said: “We want to make root-level leaders more united and strong ahead of elections so that they can unite against the propaganda of BNP-Jamaat and work for the victory of the boat.”
He said that strong unity should be brought back to strengthen the hands of the prime minister ahead of the national elections.
“As the next election is very challenging for us, we have no choice but to forget all differences and unite above all groupings,” said Mozammel Haque.
Meanwhile, the National Committee has accepted the application of more than a hundred leaders who were expelled for breaching the party's discipline, being rebel candidates in local government elections and creating party strife, and announced pardon for them.
It has also been decided to forgive those who were expelled for becoming rebel candidates and opposing party nominees in various elections following their application, said the Awami League leader.
He also said that conspiracies are going on at home and abroad against the development of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Mozammel urged everyone to be careful.
“In the next election, we have to move forward with new challenges; we have to make the party more modern and strong. Identified criminals, extortionists, communal miscreants and controversial persons cannot be brought into the party under any circumstances,” said the AL leader.
General Secretary of Khulna District Awami League Advocate Sujit Adhikari said: "Awami League is well organized. We got proof of this during the Covid-19 pandemic. Everyone at the party stands with the people. I think we have become stronger organizationally through this.”
He said that several committees have expired. Besides, the party could not hold a council during the Covid-19 period. It is not a problem in work, but there is some problem in leadership. The party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already made eight teams consisting of leaders. They have also started working.
“Following central directives, we have also assigned three organizational teams in nine upazilas of Khulna district to increase the organizational dynamics,” said the general secretary.
