The Anti Terrorism Unit (ATU) of the Bangladesh Police on Friday arrested an alleged active member of the banned militant organization Ansar-al-Islam from the capital's Jatrabari.
The arrested has been identified as Zulkifal Mahmud alias Shanto Mahmud, 24, said SP Aslam Khan (Media and Awareness Wing) of ATU.
The officer said that the arrestee was inspired by various videos of the organization's leader Tamim Al Adnani in 2019. He started communicating with various people using social media to carry out Jihad.
A diary containing jihadist statements, and three mobile phones were recovered from his possession, reports Bangla Tribune.
