UIU Prof Khondaker receives Digital Bangladesh Award 2022

He received the award for his contribution towards building digital Bangladesh and digital healthcare systems at the national level

Prof Khondaker Al Mamun of United International University (UIU) received the “Digital Bangladesh Award 2022” in the category of the Technical-Private (Best Individual) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), Dhaka on Monday. 

He received the prestigious award from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for his outstanding contribution towards building digital Bangladesh and digital healthcare systems at the national level, according to a press release.

The prime minister was present as the chief guest in the program and handed over the prizes to the winners. 

AKM Rahmatullah, MP, president, Standing Committee, Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology, was present as the special guest. 

The welcome speech was delivered by NM Zeaul Alam, senior secretary, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) DivisioAbdullah n. 

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, state minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division, presided over the program.  

Prof Khondaker Abdullah Al Mamun is the founder of Advanced Intelligent Multidisciplinary Systems Lab (AIMS Lab), UIU and CMED Health. 

The AIMS lab of UIU research-based works on different subjects in computer science and biomedical engineering. 

He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed international journals and conference articles. He has developed and implemented several digital healthcare services model-based solutions for developing countries. 

His research innovation of CMED Health is working to ensure healthcare for every people in Bangladesh through the 4th industrial revolution technology. 

He established the first Brain Computer Interface Lab (BCI) in Bangladesh in 2021. This lab is playing a very active role in research on Human Brain, Machine Interface, Biomedical and Rehabilitation Engineering. It is noted that “Bolte Chai” and “Smart Autism Barta” apps developed for Autism children were handed over to NDD Trust, Ministry of Social Welfare and inaugurated by the prime minister on 2 April 2022 and Prof Mamun was conferred a special award for his contribution. 

Recently his invention of the breast cancer screening tool BScan App has been clinically verified.
