The BBA Program Office of the School of Business and Economics (SoBE) at United International University (UIU) organized a career-focused program titled “Meet and Question the HR Leaders” at the UIU campus yesterday, providing final-year BBA students with direct insights into the expectations of corporate and human resources professionals.
Dr Md Musharrof Hossain, HR Advisor at icddr,b and Founder President of the Federation of Bangladesh Human Resource Organizations (FBHRO), delivered the keynote speech. He discussed future-ready HR leadership and the skills employers expect from business graduates.
The program also featured a panel discussion with industry professionals from multinational corporations, banking, recruitment, financial services, real estate and media.
The panel included M Shabbir Ali, SHRM-SCP, Corporate Head of HR and Director at Transcom Ltd; Asif Zaman, Chief Human Resources Officer at Citibank N A; Md Kamruzzaman (Sabuj), Chief Executive Officer at Myjobs.com.bd; Abu Shaleh Mohammed Shameem, Chief People and Culture Officer at National Finance PLC; Shabah Kabir Nabi, Senior Manager, Human Resources and Administration at Sheltech (Pvt) Ltd; and Md Mahmudul Hasan Khan, Head of HR and Admin at The Daily Star.
The panelists discussed career development, recruitment strategies, professional ethics, leadership, workplace adaptability, communication, organizational culture and the competencies required to succeed in the corporate environment.
Prof M Niaz Asadullah, Advisor-Adjunct, SoBE, UIU, chaired the session and shared perspectives on current job market opportunities and considerations for students preparing to enter the professional world.
Prof Dr Salma Karim, Director of the BBA Program, SoBE, UIU, moderated the session and facilitated the discussion between the panelists and UIU students.
The program concluded with a student Q&A session, allowing participants to interact directly with the corporate leaders and seek advice on career preparation, professional growth and workplace expectations.
The BBA Program said the initiative strengthened academia-industry engagement and supported its efforts to prepare business graduates for professional careers.
Heads of departments, faculty members, HR experts, administrative personnel, students and senior representatives from the corporate sector attended the program.
