Six parliamentary seats of BNP MPs declared vacant

The resignation letter from Chapainawabganj-3 Harunur Rashid, who is currently abroad, was not accepted

The seats of six BNP MPs were declared vacant by the Parliament Secretariat in a gazette notification published on Sunday afternoon.

The gazette was signed by Election Commission Secretary KM Abdus Salam.

They are Md Zahidur Rahman of Thakurgaon-3; Md Mosharof Hosen of Bogura-4; Gulam Mohammad Siraj of Bogura-6; Md Aminul Islam of Chapainawabganj-2 and Rumeen Farhana, lawmaker from a seat reserved for women.

The resignation letter from Chapainawabganj-3 Harunur Rashid, who is currently abroad, was not accepted.

The scanned signature and email resignation letter from Harunur Rashid must be submitted again as they are not regarded as being "signed”.

Following a week of returning home from Australia Harunur Rashid will also submit his resignation, according to BNP MPs.

On Sunday morning, the speaker received resignation letters from five of the seven BNP lawmakers.
