On the occasion of the founding anniversary of Awami Jubo League, a free medical team was formed under the leadership of 25 doctors for the primary treatment of the leaders and activists who came to the rally.
This medical team gave first aid to 15,000-20,000 leaders and activists on Friday.
Dr Saikat Roy, a member of the youth medical team, said this while talking to the Bangla Tribune on Friday.
The medical team, according to Dr Saikat Roy, consisted of 25 physicians, 10 nurses, and five volunteers.
When first aid was administered to activists, it was discovered that eight to 10 of them had cardiac issues. Additionally, as they walked and jumped on the wall, 15 to 20 additional activists got leg injuries. Additionally, 30 to 40 activists and leaders sustained general injuries. One of them died after being sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Dr Saikat Roy said that first aid was given to the leaders and activists who came to the centre of the rally from 9am. It went on till the end of the gathering in the evening.
He responded that dehydration, high blood pressure, headaches, and acidity issues are the most common conditions that activists seek assistance for at the medical camp. He commented that the lack of sleep during the previous two days and the resulting fatigue were the main causes of these issues.
Rafiq Raihan, a rally attendee from Barisal, claimed that the strain of the event prevented him from sleeping or taking shower for the previous two days.
“I became a little ill as a result after praying today. I contacted the medical staff, and after receiving the basic care, I feel fine,” he added.
The medical team was led by Jubo League's Central Health Affairs Secretary Dr Farid Raihan, Medical Committee General Secretary Dr Helal Uddin and Central Committee Member Dr Mofizul Haque Jumman.
