Bhola unit BNP has accused Awami League of vandalizing and looting a launch owned by the convener of its associate body Swecchasebak Dal late on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Veduriya Ferry Ghat in Bhola on a launch named “MV Aulad.”
The launch owner, Convener of Bhola sadar Swecchasebak Dal Md Ibrahim Khalil accused Awami League of vandalizing his vessel centering BNP's divisional rally in Barisal slated for November 5.
In this regard, Bhola unit Awami League's former joint general secretary Johurul Islam Nakib said that he had heard about the incident but his party is not involved in it.
“The launch owner is a BNP leader, and hence I think they have vandalized the launch themselves to blame Awami League,” he added
Dhaka TribuneMeanwhile, the Speedboat Owners Association has suspended the operation of speedboats on Bhola-Barisal route for three days.
The movement of speedboats was suspended on Wednesday evening, causing suffering to the commuters.
Earlier, three-wheeler drivers in Barisal called a strike on November 4 and 5 demanding the authorities concerned allow three-wheelers to operate on the highway.
The strike has coincided with the upcoming rally of the BNP while bus owners in the district have announced a similar strike on the same dates.
The rally in Barisal will be the 5th one by the BNP at the divisional level as four others were held in Chittagong, Mymensingh, Khulna, and Rangpur.
