The Padma Bridge authorities collected over Tk9 crore in tolls from vehicles crossing the bridge during the four-day vacation till Sunday.
Besides, over 68,000 vehicles used the bridge during the period, reports Bangla Tribune.
An average of Tk2 crore in tolls was collected daily, according to Bridge authority.
Dewan Abdul Kader, executive engineer of Padma Bridge, said that on these days, an average of more than 15,000 vehicles crossed and more than two crore tolls were collected daily.
The authorities collected Tk2,03,75,500 on Thursday, Tk2,32,06,100 on Friday, Tk55,23,400 on Saturday and Tk2,53,63,150 on Sunday.
So far Tk217crore collected in toll on Padma Bridge.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 6.15-km bridge with great fanfare on June 25.
It marked an important milestone in Bangladesh’s history, as it is a symbol not just of Bangladesh’s tenacity but of its growing economic prowess and development.
