Though family members are demanding unconditional release of the arrestees in connection with the missing incident of Rahima Begum, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) said that they will be released after investigation.
Even after the rescue of Rahima Begum, those arrested in the case filed over the missing incident have yet to be released.
Their family members said that though they filed bail petitions earlier, now they want unconditional release of the arrestees.
At the same time, they demanded punishment of Moriom Mannan and her mother.
The PBI said that they will release them only after completing investigation and submitting a report to the court whether they have any link with the missing incident. However, if the court wants, they can get bail.
Rahima Begum was rescued from Boalmari upazila in Faridpur on September 24.
Later, the family members of the arrestees filed a bail petition on September 27.
The court fixed October 4 for hearing of the bail petition.
Besides, Moriom Mannan already contacted the PBI and said that they do not want to pursue the case anymore.
The PBI said that they could not stop the investigation of the case if they want. The investigation will proceed at its own pace.
Syed Mushfiqur Rahman, superintendent of police of Khulna PBI, said: “Rahima Begum was rescued unharmed. We are still investigating. We will know the real facts after the investigation is over.”
“We will submit a report after completing the investigation. However, the court will decide whether the arrestees will be released or not,” he said.
Seven days have passed since Rahima Begum was found alive in Faridpur.
But those arrested in connection with her alleged abduction have yet to secure bail.
Their families are now passing their days with worry and anxiety.
The families not only want their bail, but the unconditional release of their loved ones and punishment for those responsible for their suffering.
Rahima, whose family claimed she had gone missing, was found after 29 days on September 24, but not before her family members had filed a case, leading to six arrests.
Police initially suspected that she had left her home due to some family dispute over land.
