The Center for Enterprise and Society (CES) at ULAB organized a Symposium titled “Mitigating the Dollar Crisis: Policy Recommendations for the Near and Long Term” based on a working paper with the same title on Sunday, according to a press release.
Professor Imran Rahman, vice-chancellor, ULAB made the opening remarks at the event followed by a welcome address from director, CES, Associate Professor Sajid Amit.
The working paper was then presented by Orpita Oysharja, senior research associate and lecturer, CES, ULAB.
The session also included an interactive panel discussion with industry and investment experts, namely, Sayma Rahman, founder and CEO, SR Ventures and Consultancy, Sabrina Imam, EdTech founder and CEO, Bitsy Toys, director, Praava Health, Md Nafeez Al Tarik, managing director, Dhaka Bank Securities Ltd, and Asif Khan, managing partner, EDGE Research and Consulting Ltd.
The discussion revolved around the impact of the crisis on the economy at large and focused on some near and long-term policy recommendations to help mitigate the scenario.
The experts provided deeper insights into macro and micro-economic aspects of the Bangladesh economy along with how to avert similar crises in the future.
