Bangladesh Coastguard seized 13 gold bars worth Tk1.52 crore during a raid in the Boroitoli area of Teknaf early Sunday morning.
However, no arrests have been made yet.
During a press conference on Sunday, Teknaf Coastguard In-Charge Lt Commander Md Ashik Ahmed said they received information that a gang was smuggling gold to Myanmar using a boat that came from the neighbouring country.
Members of the force took position near the Parabon area of Boiroitoli. When they challenged a man approaching the checkpost, he abandoned a sack in his possession and fled the scene,.
Later, members of the force secured the gold bars from the sack.
Lt Cdr Ashik Ahmed said they would file a case in this regard.
