The police have filed a case against three balloon suppliers under the Special Powers Act in connection with the gas balloon blast at the 4th anniversary of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP).
Mosabbir Hossain, sub-inspector (SI) of GMP’s Sadar police station, on Saturday filed the case against three persons responsible for supplying balloons.
GMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Monday.
The accused are Babul, Monik and Kibria. However, the details of the accused were not mentioned in the statement of the case.
Earlier on Friday, a probe body was formed by the GMP to investigate the incident.
The four-member committee headed by Deputy Commissioner Abu Torab Shamsur Rahman has been asked to submit a report within three working days.
Bangladeshi stand-up comedian Abu Hena Rony and four others sustained burn injuries in a gas balloon blast on the fourth anniversary event of the GMP on Friday evening.
According to the physician, the comedian sustained 25% burn injuries.
