At least 11 people were killed in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Tangail, Kushtia, Rangpur, Narayanganj, and Cox’s Bazar till Sunday.
In Dhaka, a schoolboy was killed after an unidentified vehicle hit him in the Tejgaon area on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Ali Hossain, 16, a resident of the area and a tenth-grader at Government Science College.
After a speeding vehicle hit Ali in front of the Bangladesh Government (BG) Press in Tejgaon around 7:30am, locals rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead, said DMCH police outpost In-charge Inspector Md Bacchu Mia.
In Kushtia, an SSC candidate named Rois Uddin Ranak, 16, was killed after being hit by a CNG auto rickshaw on Sunday afternoon at the Kushtia-Meherpur road.
Golam Mostafa, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirpur police station, confirmed.
In Rangpur, three people, including a three-day-old baby, were killed and two others sustained injuries in a collision between a bus and an ambulance in Taragonj upazila on Sunday.
The deceased are ambulance driver Al Amin, the child, and another as-yet-unidentified person on the vehicle.
According to the police, the baby was unwell and was being taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
The two injured persons were undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital(RMCH), Taragong highway police station OC Mahbub Morshed said.
In Cox’SBazar, two Rohingya girls were killed when a truck fell into a ditch at Balukhali in Ukhiya on Sunday.
The deceased are Kaneta Begum, daughter of Ziabul Haque of G/2 Block of Camp 15, and Noor Kalema, daughter of Abdu Salam of the same area.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of the 8 Armed Police Battalion engaged in the security of the camp, Kamran Hossain said a truck carrying 10,000 bricks fell into the ditch AND, while passing by the road, Kanta and Noor Kalima were crushed under the truck.
Later, APBN members recovered the bodies of the two girls from under the truck and sent them to Sadar Hospital morgue.
He said the truck driver has been arrested and handed over to Ukhia police station.
Moreover, two CNG auto rickshaw passengers were killed and three others injured after getting hit by a truck in Teknaf on Sunday.
The deceased are driver Mamun and Zainal as confirmed by the general secretary of Hnila CNG Society Nurul Hoshain .
However, the identities of the other injured are yet to be known.
In Narayanganj, two motorcyclists were killed when a vehicle hit their motorbike on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway near Kanchpur Bridge on Sunday, said police.
The deceased were identified as Srabon Reza, 18, son of Selim Reza and Amir Hamza, 18, son of Abdur Rashid Bhuiya of Siddhirganj area.
Later, they were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) and a private hospital in Dhaka where they succumbed to their injuries.
