The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority on Tuesday slapped 63 buses in Dhaka and Chittagong with a fine totalling Tk2.61 lakh over different irregularities.
The offences included overcharging passengers, not having route permits, poor vehicle fitness, using hydraulic horns, etc.
BRTA Deputy Director (Enforcement) Hemayet Uddin confirmed the matter.
The Road Transport and Highways Division earlier said mobile courts would conduct regular drives to check if buses were overcharging passengers and take legal action against errant service providers.
