The police have no right to shoot and kill, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said.
He made the remark on Friday, after meeting with the family members of the Jubo Dal activist who was killed in a clash with police in Narayanganj.
He spoke to the family members in the Nabinagar area and visited the grave of Shawon Ahmed Raja around 12am.
Talking to reporters, he criticized the police’s action and said that the law enforcers have no right to shoot and kill someone regardless of one's identity.
At that time, the BNP secretary general handed over Tk100,000 Shawon's mother.
The autopsy report states that Shawon was shot in the chest, but no bullet was found.
Narayanganj 100-bed hospital Resident Medical Officer (RMO) SK Farhad said that the board formed under the leadership of Mofizuddin completed the post-mortem proceedings.
“But I was not present with this team due to my vacation. I came to know through the staff present during the autopsy that no bullet was found in the deceased's body,” he added.
On Thursday, BNP supporters brought out a procession in the afternoon to celebrate the party's founding anniversary.
The procession was barred by police when it reached the second rail gate area and a clash erupted.
Police claimed that the BNP did not take permission before observing the program on the street.
