National flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines started operating passenger flights on the Dhaka-Guangzhou-Dhaka route on Thursday.

A Biman flight BG-366 with 229 passengers took off from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11am and was scheduled to land in China’s Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport around 4:45pm, says a media statement.

The returning flight from Guangzhou will take off at 7:45pm and reach Dhaka at 9:30pm.

Md Mahbub Ali, state minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, inaugurated the flight operation in a ceremony at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the morning.

“The flights on the Dhaka-Guangzhou-Dhaka route will reduce the problem of Bangladeshi students and businessmen traveling to China. Besides, it will boost the trade and communication between the two countries,” he said.

He added that the route will become one of the most profitable routes for aviation.

Passengers can purchase tickets from any Biman sales centre. Returning passengers will also be able to book flights on the www.biman-airlines.com website or any Biman-approved travel agency.

Passengers have been requested to adhere to the travel advisories available on the Biman website or the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka website.
