An autorickshaw driver was killed in front of the capital's Banani Army Stadium after being hit by a speeding car around 2am on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Shahidul Islam, 50.
Two other autorickshaw passengers – Malti Rani, 45, and her son Biswajit, 25, were injured in the incident.
Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police outpost in-charge Bachchu Mia said the three injured were brought to the emergency department of the hospital late at night.
Duty doctors declared Shahidul dead upon arrival.
Malti Rani and Biswajit are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The police said that they are trying to identify the car from the CCTV footage.
