Thousands attend namaz-e-janaza of Mirsharai train crash victims

Funeral of five victims held on Saturday morning

Thousands of people attended the namaz-e-janaza of the 11 victims who died after a train crash in Mirsharai upazila of Chittagong on Saturday.

The prayers for five victims - Riduan Chowdhury, Ziaul Haque Sajib, Iqbal Hossain Maruf, Mohammad Hasan, and Golam Mostafa Niru were held at around 10:15am at Khandkia Chhamdia Government Primary School ground.

They were laid to rest at their family graveyards after the janaza.

Besides, the namaz-e-janaza of four other victims was also held in their respective villages on Saturday, while those of two others were held on Friday night.

Police on Saturday filed a case against the gateman over the train crash.

On Friday, 11 people were killed and five others injured after a train hit a microbus at an unmanned level crossing.

Among the deceased, four were teachers, six students, and one driver.

They are Ziaul Haque Sajib, 22, Wahidul Alam Jisan, 23, Mostafa Masud Rakib, 19, Riduan Chowdhury, 22, Moshab Ahmed Hisam, 16, Md Mahim, 17, and Sagar, 17, Iqbal Hossain Maruf, 17, Ayatul Islam, 17, Mohammad Hasan, 18, and Golam Mostafa Niru, 26.

Later at night, police started handing over the bodies of the victims to their families without post-mortem.
