There is no extra pressure of traffic on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway ahead of the Eid as holidaymakers rush back to their native villages.
Abul Hossain, executive engineer of the Padma Bridge, confirmed the matter to media on Thursday.
“The traffic on the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Highway (Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga Expressway) is normal,” he said.
Traffic pressure on the Padma Bridge is normal as well. The number of Eid holidaymakers has not increased yet, he added.
Afzal Hossain, in-charge of Hasara Highway police outpost, said vehicles were moving at normal speed on the expressway. There is no pressure, no extra vehicles are seen so far.
Meanwhile, over Tk2 crore has been collected as toll from 16,709 vehicles that crossed the Padma Bridge in the last 24 hours.
