Vehicles plying the Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga expressway have paid more than Tk24 lakh in tolls in the first 24 hours of toll collection.
Altogether 15,650 vehicles used the road between 12:01am on Friday and the same time on Saturday.
Drivers of different-sized vehicles paid their tolls at eight booths on the expressway, and the authorities have said they will increase the number of booths ahead of Eid.
There was a massive gridlock on the first morning, but the traffic flow was smooth on Saturday, said the manager of Bogail toll plaza, Faruk Hossain.
Bhanga highway police station OC Hamiduddin Ahmed said policemen were patrolling the area near the plaza.
Toll collection on the expressway, officially named Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Highway, started on Friday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in March 2020 inaugurated the 54.7-km four-lane expressway, built at a cost of Tk11,003 crore.
The toll rate on the expressway ranges from Tk30 to Tk1,690.
The toll for trailers is Tk1,690, for heavy trucks Tk1,100, medium trucks Tk550, buses Tk495, mini trucks Tk415, minibuses Tk275, microbuses and other four-wheeled vehicles Tk220, sedans Tk140 and motorcycles Tk30.
The Roads and Highways Department has recommended the movement of motorcycles be banned on the expressway to prevent gridlock as well as accidents.
