Outgoing Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda will hold a press conference on Monday, the last day of his current tenure in the office.
The event will be held at the Election Commission building in the capital’s Agargaon at around 11am.
Election Commission Joint Secretary (public relations) SM Asaduzzaman issued a press release in this regard on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, Nurul Huda told the media that the commission had performed its duties neutrally and as per the law.
He said: “I think I am successful. We completed all the elections.”
According to the top election official, the voter turnout in the elections held under the incumbent commission was around 70%, which in itself is a success.
The government has already formed a search committee responsible for forming a new EC.
The search committee chief on Sunday said that the nominations for the chief election commissioner and other commissioners submitted to them would be published on the website.
