The government has fixed the prices of cow rawhide to Tk50-55 in Dhaka and Tk45-48 in the rest of Bangladesh for Eid-ul-Azha, when Muslims sacrifice millions of cattle.
Per square feet of rawhide of castrated goats would be sold at Tk18-20 and those of female goats at Tk12-14, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi announced on Sunday.
The government last year set the prices of salted rawhide of sacrificed cattle at Tk47-52 per square ft for Dhaka and Tk40-44 outside the capital.
The prices had to be increased this year considering the "overall situation," the minister said.
If the prices were reduced through manipulation, the government would allow the export of rawhide, he warned.
