More rains expected across Bangladesh

Highest rainfall recorded in Sreemangal

The weather department has predicted more rains across Bangladesh in the next 24 hours.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes are likely to occur at a few places in Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said in its weather bulletin on Friday.

Day temperatures may rise slightly in the northern parts of the country and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere. Night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged.

A low-pressure area is likely to form over the central Bay of Bengal in the next three days, it added.

The weather office recorded the highest 39mm of rainfall in Sreemangal of Sylhet till 6am on Friday.

The mercury reached 35.5 degrees Celsius – the highest – in Chuadanga of Khulna, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 19.7 degrees in Tetulia of Rangpur division.

Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak over North Bay, per the bulletin.
