In pictures: The love of a mother

The celebration of Mother's Day honours the sacrifices that mothers make for their children and their families all over the world. All mothers, regardless of age or socioeconomic status, possess the same love and warmth for their children, and it deserves to be appreciated every day.

The earliest history of Mothers Day dates back to the ancient annual spring festival the Greeks dedicated to maternal goddesses. However, a deeper appreciation of the day emerged after the death of Anna Jarvis's mother, and her efforts to get the day recognized as a holiday.

The first Mother’s Day was celebrated in 1907.
