Police on Saturday detained a 53-year-old man for tearing the clothes of two female Jahangirnagar University (JU) students on a moving bus.

The incident was reported around 11am from Savar’s Hemayetpur area. The accused, Harun-ur-Rashid, was handed over to police by the students and other passengers of the bus.

Kazi Mainul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Savar police station confirmed the matter.

The same person was caught red-handed on November 6, 2017 from Dhaka's Mirpur 1 after he did the same thing with a woman on a moving bus. He was handed over to Kalabagan police, but was released later.

Harun-ur-Rashid was previously caught red-handed on November 6, 2017 from Dhaka's Mirpur 1 after he did the same thing with a woman on a moving bus Collected

The students on Saturday said they boarded a “Thikana Paribahan” bus in the morning. After the bus reached Hemayetpur, both women noticed their clothes were torn from behind.

“When they looked behind, Harun-ur-Rashid hurriedly threw out a cutter through the bus’s window, and tried to escape,” said the OC.

Later, he was caught by the passengers.

The victims have filed a written complaint. However, further actions will be taken if they file a case, the officer said.
