Bangladeshi cargo vessel sinks at Kolkata port

No casualties have been reported so far

A Bangladeshi cargo vessel named “Marintrust 01” capsized at a jetty of the Shyamaprasad Mukherji Port in Kolkata of India on Thursday.   

The vessel finished her work at 10:45am (Indian standard time) on Thursday and was supposed to return to Chittagong port on Friday, reports United News of India. 

There was no news of casualties in the incident.

There were 165 containers at the vessel, reports another Indian news outlet Zee News. 

The cause of the sinking of the vessel could not be known immediately. 

Port officials said that all possible measures were taken to minimize losses in the incident. 

Efforts were taken in association with terminal operators for salvaging the containers on the ship, said the reports.
