A man was killed after being run over by rushing vehicles in front of the High Court area in the capital.

The incident was reported early on Monday, said Inspector Md Bacchu Mia of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Police Outpost.

The victim has been identified as Md Dipu, 26 who lived in Jatrabari.

According to his cousin Md Mahbub, Dipu went out as early as 4 am to Shahbag to buy flowers for Valentine’s Day.

However, he was run over by vehicles during the morning rush.

Dipu was rescued and taken to DMCH where the doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, another man was run over by a “Desh Transport” bus at Dhaka’s Shahjahanpur area late on Sunday.

Al-Amin, 20, was on his way on a bike around 10:30 pm, when the bus hit him from behind near the Kamalapur ICD.

He fell from the bike and died on spot after sustaining heavy injuries to his head.

He was an employee at a Banaful store in Manik Nagar, said Al-Amin’s uncle Mizanur Rahman.

Shahjahanpur Police seized the bus and detained the driver on spot, he said.
