Bangladesh tallied 264 new fatalities caused by Covid on Tuesday, equalling the previous high recorded on August 5.
The new deaths took the total pandemic toll in the country to 23,161.
Meanwhile, 11,164 new cases were reported in the 24 hours to 8am on Tuesday, taking the total caseload to 1,376,322.
On the other hand, another 14,903 patients recovered from the disease, raising the total number of recoveries to 1,234,762, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Dhaka counted 92 deaths, the highest among the eight divisions, followed by Chittagong with 60 fatalities.
Twenty-seven deaths were reported in Khulna division, 25 in Rajshahi, 18 in Mymensingh, 17 in Sylhet, 14 in Rangpur and 11 in Barisal.
Two hundred and fifty-four of the victims of the pandemic died at different hospitals in the country, while 10 died at home.
Of the new patients, Dhaka logged 5,468 cases, the highest among the divisions, followed by Chittagong with 2,506 and Khulna with 757.

As many as 47,424 samples were tested in the 24-hour period, yielding an infection rate of 23.54%.
The infection rate against all tests conducted in the country to date stands at 16.76%.
Meanwhile, the latest additions have put the recovery rate at 89.71% and the mortality rate at 1.68%.
Vaccination progress
Bangladesh inoculated around 19.1 million of its citizens against Covid as of Monday.
The health authorities have administered the first Covid vaccine dose to some 14.4 million people and the second one to around 4.73 million, according to a DGHS press release.
Around 10.3 million people have received the AstraZeneca Covid vaccine, 6.84 million the Sinopharm jab, 1.67 million the Moderna shot and 72,407 the Pfizer vaccine.
More than 26.7 million people have signed up for immunization against Covid so far.
Bangladesh reported its first three cases of Covid, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a strain of coronavirus later named Sars-CoV-2, on March 8 last year.
The fast-spreading coronavirus has claimed more than 4.32 million lives and infected over 204.3 million people across the world till Tuesday afternoon, according to Worldometer.
More than 183.4 million people have recovered from the disease, which has affected 222 countries and territories across the planet.
