Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Dhalywood film producer and director Nazrul Islam Raz from his Banani house in the capital on Wednesday night in possession of drugs.
Raz was taken to the RAB Headquarters after the raid that started around 8:30pm, within hours after the arrest of his friend actor Pori Moni.
He is the head of “Raz Multimedia”, which produced Pori Moni’s first film “Bhalobasha Seemaheen”.
During the raid, RAB seized illegal items including drugs from his house, said Commander Al Moin, director of RAB’s legal and media wing.

He said that equipment used for engaging in perverted sex were also seized.
The raid was conducted based on information obtained during preliminary interrogation of Mishu, who was detained from actor Pori Moni’s residence.
RAB detained Pori Moni and took her into custody after the seizure of 30 bottles of foreign liquor and some blotting papers that are used to distribute LSD, a hallucinogenic drug.

Different law enforcement agencies arrested businessperson Helena Jahangir, who was removed from an Awami League subcommittee recently, on July 30 and two so-called models – Faria Mahabub Piasha and Mou Akter – on charges of blackmailing people on August 2.
Pori Moni, whose real name is Samsunnahar Smriti, came to light in June after demanding justice in a Facebook live for the alleged torture on her at Dhaka Boat Club on June 8.

On June 14, she filed a case against businessperson and former Uttara Club president Nasir U Mahmood and five others on charges of attempted rape and murder.
Following this, law enforcers arrested Nasir U Mahmood, who later claimed that Pori Moni and her companions had been in a drunken state on that night.
On June 16, All Community Club President KM Alamgir alleged that Pori Moni and her friends had rampaged at the club late on June 7.
