Officers and staff of Style Craft garments factory demonstrated on Dhaka-Joydevpur Road on Tuesday demanding three months’ salaries and other dues pending for the last three years.
The workers and staff of the Style Craft garments factory in Laxmipura area of Gazipur have been demanding their dues for the last few months and observed protests in front of the factory several times.

Dissatisfaction spread among the staff on Tuesday morning when the factory authorities refused to pay the dues. Even though the workers joined work, the officers and staff formed a human chain on Dhaka-Joydevpur Road for an hour and later blocked the road, according to Inspector Samir Chandra Sutradhar of Gazipur Industrial Police.
They removed the obstructions around 2:45pm when the police mediated a meeting between the staff and the factory authorities. Later they took position in front of the factory till evening.

Meanwhile, workers of National Chemical Manufacturing Co Ltd in Borobari area of Gazipur also protested demanding arrears and Eid bonus in the morning.
They demonstrated for the third consecutive day on Tuesday demanding their four months’ salaries and bonuses.
Mahfuzul Islam, an assistant chemist at the factory and president of the workers' union, said that the authorities had been dilly-dallying about paying the dues for long. No solution was found in this regard even after discussing it with the senior government officials.
In this context, the workers started protesting in front of the main gate on Sunday.
