What is Mendi Safadi up to now?

Update : 10 Jul 2017, 10:07 PM
Mendi N Safadi has stepped into the limelight again by trying to broker diplomatic relations between Israel and the Hindus living in Bangladesh. The spotlight first fell on the senior Likud Party figure last year when news broke about his alleged meeting with BNP leader Aslam Chowdhury to topple the ruling Awami League government. Now his Mendi N Safadi Centre for International Diplomacy and Public Relations has been the conduit for a letter sent by the Hindu Struggle Committee to Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, reports Jerusalem Online. The letter urges Netanyahu to establish a strong relationship with Bangladeshi Hindus, despite the absence of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Israel. “We, speaking on behalf of the Hindu people in Bangladesh, feel really sorry about this decision that was adopted and continued onwards for decades irrespective of the political party that reigns in Bangladesh," the Hindu Struggle Committee wrote.

“The only reason for such an unacceptable norm continued by Bangladesh is the Muslim Brotherhood.” Terming Hindus a "vulnerable community", the committee also said Bangladesh must apologise to Israel for its behaviour. “It’s most unfortunate that the Islamists, their apologists and supporters as well as the hostile Middle Eastern and Muslim majority nations have been committing all types of heinous crimes against Jews and the State of Israel,” said the Hindu Struggle Committee. It called upon Netanyahu to "build a strong connection" with the Bengali Hindus in Bangladesh and India regardless of the position held by the present Bangladeshi government, and hoped that this will help save the community in Bangladesh.
