The Chamber Judge Court has stayed a High Court order that suspended the formation of a new Board of Trustees for the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust, clearing the way for the board to function, lawyers said.

Chamber Judge Justice Md Rezaul Haque passed the order on Thursday.

Additional Attorney General Barrister Aneek R Haque represented the state during the hearing.

On September 2, the Ministry of Religious Affairs decided to form a new Board of Trustees for the trust. Dipak Kumar Palit challenged the decision by filing a writ petition with the High Court.

After hearing the petition, the High Court stayed the implementation of the ministry’s decision on October 13.

The government subsequently appealed against the High Court order to the Appellate Division. Following a hearing, the chamber judge stayed the October 13 order, removing the legal obstacle to the newly formed board’s operations.
