TCB to start commodity sales at subsidized rate from Mar 17

The TCB will operate the special program before the holy Ramadan and also to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will start a country-wide commodity sale program in subsidized price from Wednesday aiming to keep the essentials price stable in the markets before the holy Ramadan tentatively begins from middle of the next month.

“The state-run enterprise TCB will start commodity sales from March 17 at a subsidized rate throughout the country including Dhaka and Chittagong metropolitan cities,” said a TCB press release.

Under the program, the TCB will sell edible oil, sugar, lentils, and onions to the consumers on 400 mobile trucks- with 80 trucks in Dhaka city and 20 trucks in Chittagong city.

The TCB will operate the special program as part of its commodity selling program before the holy Ramadan and also to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the release added.

In the city, each truck will sell around 500-600kg sugar, 300-500kg lentils, 500-1000 liter soyabean oil and 300-1000 kg onions in a day. The TCB will sell sugar at Tk50 per kg, lentil at Tk55 per kg, soyabean oil at Tk90 per litre and onions at Tk15 per kg at the retail level.

An individual will be allowed to buy maximum 2-4kg sugar, 2kg lentils and 2-5 litres soyabean oil directly from the TCB truck in a day.

City’s possible selling spots are Secretariat gate, Jatrabari bazaar, Ittefaq intersection, Shantinagar bazaar, Shajahanpur bazaar, Khamarbari Farmgate, Mirpur-14 Kochukhet, Mirpur-1 Mazar Road, Shyamoly intersection or NAM garden, Uttara Abdullahpur, Viqarunnesa gate no-10/Eastern Housing gate, Begunbari, Motijheel govt colony, Bhasantek bazaar, Madya Badda, Palasy/ Chapra mosque, Jigatola/Dhanmondi govt colony, Rampura bazaar, Mathertek/Nandipara/krishibank, Adabar/Monsurabat, Bangla College, Shah Shaheb Math Azimpur Bottala, Ashkona Haji Camp, Basabo bazaar, Azampur, DC office, Satarkul, Bangladesh Bank, Mirpur-2/Mirpur-12, Matuail/Siddirganj, ECB/Kalshi, Gabtoli/Technical, Kaptan Bazar, Soarighat/Nobabganj section, Banosree bazaar, Kalmilata bazaar, Kawran bazaar, Dilkusha, Meradia bazaar, Nippon Bottala, Khilgaon Taltoala, Mugda, New Market, Tongi bazaar, Sanir Akhra, Bosila, Kamrangirchar Loharpool, Sarulia bazaar, Gangi bazaar, 60-feet Bhanga Masjid, Gupibagh Khokon community center, Gulshan Bhatara bazaar, Savar bazaar, Ananda cinema hall, Mouchak fortune market, Hatirpool bazaar, Malibagh bazaar, Uttar Badda bazaar and Khilkhet bazaar.

In addition, the TCB program also will be operated in all district headquarters and upazilas through the dealers. The special commodity selling program will continue till March 31.
