Cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore on Saturday underwent ear surgery at a private hospital in Dhaka.
Confirming the matter to Bangla Tribune, Kishore’s brother Ahsan Kabir said his operation was successful.
The surgery was conducted at 12pm. Later, he was taken to a cabin at around 2pm.
Quoting the doctors, Ahsan said a procedure called “Tympanic Membrane Repair Myringoplasty” was done in Kishore’s right ear, where a medical device was put during the surgery.
When asked about Kishore’s eye operation, Ahsan also said: “Kishore's blood sugar is not under control. Yesterday it was 16, today it went down to 7.8.”
Recently, Kishore fell sick due to his blood sugar level being decreased to below four. Eye operation is not possible until blood sugar level is stable, he added.
Ahsan mentioned that Kishore’s diabetes is under control to some degree but the pain from his leg injuries is still there along with his joint wounds.
A Digital Security Act case was filed against Kishore on May 5, 2020. He was released from prison on March 5, after getting bail for six months.
