Tributes and condolences continue to pour in for Ekushey Padak-2015 winner, eminent actor ATM Shamsuzzaman, who passed away at the age of 80, at his residence in the city’s Sutrapur area early this morning.
Immediately after his demise, people from all walks of life as well as notable political parties and leaders expressed their shock and sent condolences.
“The death of ATM Shamsuzzaman is an irreplaceable loss to the cultural field of the country.
“People will remember his contribution to upholding the non-communal spirit in Bangladesh with due respect.”

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud; Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzak; Law Minister Anisul Haque; Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque; Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun; Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin; Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury; Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim; Health Minister Zahid Maleque; LGRD Minister Md Tajul Islam; Youth and Sports State Minister Md Zahid Ahsan Rusell; Cultural Affairs State Minister KM Khalid, and Civil Aviation and Tourism State Minister Md Mahbub Ali also expressed deep sorrow at the death of the renowned actor, in separate condolence messages.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal too expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Ekushey Padak and National Film Award winning actor.In a condolence message, the Minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman and Deputy Leader of the Opposition in Parliament GM Quader, Deputy Leader of Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President Hasanul Haque Inu also expressed grief and prayed for the eternal peace of the soul of the deceased.
An Ekushey Padak winning artist, Abu Taher Mohammad (ATM) Shamsuzzaman, popularly known as ATM Shamsuzzaman, won the National Film Awards five times during his long career.
The silver screen actor was suffering from old-age complications for a long time, family sources said.
