The electronic passport or e-passport will become operational in 6 districts of the country on Thursday.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal will virtually inaugurate e-passport activities in Chandpur, Narayanganj, Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachhari districts on Thursday afternoon.
Superintendent of Chandpur district passport office Md Mridul Bhuiyan confirmed the matter, reports Bangla Tribune.
Electronic passports were originally scheduled to become operational in all districts of the country from November 10. However, that deadline had to be revised due to various limitations and delays.
E-passports will have several categories. Different fees have been set for different types of pages of these passports, which will remain valid between 5 and 10 years.

Alongside other documents, fingerprint and iris recognition will be used for validation.
E-passport aspirants can apply by visiting http://www.dip.gov.bd/ or https://www.epassport.gov.bd/landing.
Earlier on January 22, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal handed over the country's first e-passport to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center.
The prime minister inaugurated the official distribution of e-passport in Bangladesh as the 119th country in the world to accept e-passport.
The Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) said Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) will run alongside e-passports. For the time being, e-passports will not be issued to MRP holders with more than six months of validity remaining. They will get their e-passports when the validity of their existing passports run out and they submit applications and prescribed fees for renewal.
