Founding Chairman of Partex Group and former Member of Parliament (MP) MA Hashem has passed away.
The 78-year-old passed away from coronavirus infection at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka around 1:20am on Thursday.
Evercare Hospital Head of Medical Services Dr Arif Mahmud confirmed the matter.
MA Hashem's son Shawkat Aziz Russell also confirmed the news of his father's death through social media. He requested everyone to pray for his father.

On December 11, MA Hashem was admitted to Evercare Hospital after he tested positive for Covid-19. Later, on December 16, he was put on life support after his condition deteriorated.
MA Hashem joined BNP before the 2001 general election and was elected MP from Noakhali-2 constituency.
