The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has finally given a green light to Biman Bangladesh Airlines to operate flights to and from the country starting October 1, following a five-month suspension due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The national flag carrier announced the development with a statement on Monday.
“Saudi Arabia has decided to operate Biman's commercial flights from October 1. Landing permission is required before seat allocation can begin. But, landing permission has not been approved. As a result, it is not possible now to announce the flight and to start allocating seats for passengers,” said Biman CEO Mokabbir Hossain in a statement.

The flight will be announced as soon as the landing permission is received and all concerned including the passengers will be informed, he added.
However, he said that ticket seekers are advised not to crowd unnecessarily at the counter before the flight is announced.
Earlier on September 15, Saudi Arabia announced that it will partially lift its suspension on international flights to allow "exceptional categories" of citizens and residents to travel.
The kingdom also announced that the country will scrap all travel restrictions on air, land and sea transport for citizens on January 1, 2021, it said.
In March, the kingdom suspended international flights to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
