Bangladesh allowed operations of all offices, businesses and transports to resume from Sunday on a limited scale, at a time when the country is facing its worst bout of the deadly coronavirus.
After 66 days shutdown, Shimulia launch and sea boat terminals have come back to life, boats are being used for crossing. However, the number of passengers is less than usual days. The ferry ghat is also operating smoothly. Unlike the days of shutdown, ferries are now filled with more vehicles than people. Buses are waiting in the bus terminal, but none are leaving for Dhaka. Passengers are still hiring smaller vehicles to travel to Dhaka.
A similar busy scenario at Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station, where people, wearing masks, are gathering to go to their destinations.
The government has taken such a decision to resume operations in pursuit of life and livelihood amid the pandemic.
