An isolation centre consisting of 100 beds has been prepared at the Ansar and VDP Training Center in Gaibandha to treat coronavirus patients.
“An isolation centre with 100 beds has been prepared at the Ansar and VDP Training Center in Dhanghara area of the district for coronavirus infected patients,” deputy commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin said.
Apart from it, the Technical Training Center (TTC) has also been readied for the treatment of 200 potential Covid-19 patients at Farazipara, in case the situation deteriorates, he said.
The DC said the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief allotted 882 metric tons of rice, and Tk38.45 lakh in cash as general relief for the poor of all the seven upazilas in the district, so far.
Three cases had been filed with Shaghata, Gobindaganj, and Sundarganj thanas against several dealers and the traders on charges of misappropriating rice of food friendly program, and illegally storing rice of the Vulnerable Group Development (VGD) scheme of the government, he added.
Law enforcers, including army and police personnel, are patrolling the roads to ensure social distancing and other precautionary measures to fight against the Covid-19 outbreak, he also said.
CS Dr. ABM Abu Hanif said a total of 8 coronavirus infected patients out of 12 ones are undergoing treatment and four patients have already recovered from the disease.
DD of DAE Masudur Rahman said necessary measures had been taken to include vegetables in relief materials to help farmers get fair price, following a meeting of district bazar monitoring committee headed by the DC.
