US-Bangla Airlines has announced that it will supply free personal protective equipment (PPE) to all medical college hospitals in Bangladesh till the global coronavirus outbreak ends.
In their own flights US-Bangla will bring the PPE, made according to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) guidelines, from China. Directors of all medical college hospitals across Bangladesh can call the hotline number 01929417306 to place orders and the airline authorities will supply the equipment.
US-Bangla Airlines Managing Director Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun said: “During the global coronavirus outbreak, doctors and nurses need to have adequate protection to provide services to the patients."
“For this, we have decided to stand beside health care workers by providing them with PPE.”
He added: “Since January, we did not charge the individuals or organizations who imported supplies -- masks, hand gloves, sanitizer and infrared thermometers -- to fight against the coronavirus in our regular cargo flights from China."
“We are the only authorized airline to operate flights between Bangladesh and China.”
Till Monday, Bangladesh confirmed five deaths and 49 infections from Covid-19.
The fast spreading coronavirus, which was first reported in China's Wuhan, has infected more than 724,500 people and claimed above 34,000 lives, according to Worldometer.
Globally, a total of 151,833 infected people have also recovered from Covid-19 announced the World Health Organization (WHO).
